The art of sending a bunch of flowers

Posted on April 15, 2010

Roses are red, violets are blue, send the wrong bunch of flowers and you could be eating microwave meals for one for the rest of the foreseeable. Everyone knows that carnations are naffer than plastic shoes, but did you know that roses are off limits too? Too predictable, too obvious, too like you picked them up from the garage when you were buying milk.

Instead, think about the favourite colours of the person you’re sending them to. Don’t know them? Hark back to a recent outfit of hers that you really liked. A purple dress with white belt? Tell the florist to come up with something along those lines, whilst you concentrate instead on the card – you can’t just say it with the flowers. Short, sweet, and to the point – and make sure you sign your name. After all, you want to make sure you get the credit for sending them.
